  • THIS YEAR’S MAIN EVENT IS CURRENTLY SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2024. CHECK-IN FOR MAIN EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL BEGIN AT 7:30 AM WITH A SAFETY BRIEF AND COURSE WALK-THROUGH TO FOLLOW (TIME IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE).

  • PARTICIPATION IN THE MAIN EVENT SHOOTING COMPETITION AND OPEN RANGE DAY IS STRICTLY OPEN TO ACTIVE, MUNICIPAL, COUNTY, STATE, FEDERAL and MILITARY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS ONLY. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST POSSESS VALID DEPARTMENTAL OR AGENCY CREDENTIALS (ID AND BADGE) DURING REGISTRATION.

  • TOP SHOT VOLUNTEER RANGE OFFICERS ARE PROHIBITED FROM PARTICIPATING IN THE MAIN EVENT. HOWEVER, ALL ISP RANGE OFFICERS REGARDLESS OF VOLUNTEER/WORKING STATUS MAY PARTICIPATE IN THE OTHER ON-GOING ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE DAY.

  • PARTICIPATION IN THE MAIN EVENT REQUIRES REGISTRATION AND A $100.00 NON-REFUNDABLE DONATION MADE PAYABLE TO THE ILLINOIS STATE POLICE HERITAGE FOUNDATION (ISPHF).

  • SIDE MATCHES, LIVE-FIRE PRODUCT DEMOS, AND WORK-SHOPS ARE OPEN TO BOTH ACTIVE AND RETIRED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS ONLY.

  • PARTICIPANTS AND SPECTATORS MUST ADHERE TO ALL RANGE AND SAFETY RULES AT ALL TIMES.

  • ALL PARTICIPANTS, SPECTATORS, AND VISITORS MUST SIGN AN EVENT RANGE LIABILITY WAIVER.

  • ALCOHOL AND/OR CANNABIS PRODUCTS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED ANYWHERE ON THE PREMISES.


PRIZE DONATION ETHICAL GUIDELINES

  • PURSUANT TO THE GIFT BAN FROM PROHIBITED SOURCES (VENDORS) IN THE STATE OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES ETHICS ACT, 5 ILCS 430/10-10, ILLINOIS STATE POLICE (ISP) TOP SHOT COMPETITORS AND/OR PARTICIPANTS ARE PROHIBITED FROM ACCEPTING ANY RAFFLE OR TABLE PRIZES OR ANY DONATION FROM SUCH VENDOR/S UNLESS THEY PAID THE FULL MARKET VALUE OF THE PRIZE. ISPHF TOP SHOT ISP OFFICERS ARE ALSO PROHIBITED FROM ACCEPTING ANY FREE SAMPLES OR GIVEAWAYS FROM SUCH VENDOR/S.

  • ANY OUTSIDE, NON-ISP LAW ENFORCEMENT COMPETITOR OR PARTICIPANT IS ELIGIBLE AND ALLOWED TO WIN OR ACCEPT DONATED PRIZES, SAMPLES, RAFFLES, AND GIVEAWAYS FROM ISP VENDORS.

  • ISP VENDOR DONATED PRIZES, SAMPLES, RAFFLES, AND/OR GIVEAWAYS WILL BE LABELED AND IDENTIFIED SO AS TO PREVENT VIOLATIONS OF THE STATE OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES ETHICS ACT BY ISP TOP SHOT PARTICIPANTS AND/OR COMPETITORS.

  • ALL ISPHF TOP SHOT COMPETITORS AND/OR PARTICIPANTS, INCLUDING ISP OFFICERS, ARE ELIGIBLE AND ALLOWED TO WIN DONATED PRIZES, SAMPLES, RAFFLES, AND GIVEAWAYS FROM NON-ISP VENDORS.

FIREARMS

  • CONVENTIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT STYLE HANDGUNS WITH MINOR MODIFICATIONS (SEE BELOW) WILL BE ALLOWED. NO REVOLVERS OR ANTIQUE STYLE FIREARMS.

     

    * STOCK -  Minor modifications only such as after-market iron sights, grip tape, light attachments and extended beaver tails.  No internal changes or trigger upgrades, only production triggers – example (Glock performance Trigger will be allowed) aftermarket triggers made by other companies other than the gun manufacturer not allowed.

     

    *LIMITED – Anything listed above in stock as well as Red Dot / RMR Optics, Frame Stippling, magwell extensions, after market magazines release, after market slide stops, connectors (3.5 LBS MINIMUM triggers) 

     

  • Any weapons system or ammunition that is suspected outside the parameters are subject to inspection.

     

  • Allowed Calibers: Anything from 9mm through 45 ACP, No rimfire calibers.

     

  • NO PERSONAL RIFLES WILL BE USED. DURING THE MAIN EVENT, ALL COMPETITORS WILL UTILIZE THE DS ARMS RIFLE AND AMMUNITION PROVIDED.

EQUIPMENT AND AMMO

  • Factory ammunition only.  Re-loads will not be allowed.  All ammunition subject to inspection.

  • Participants will need to provide your own ammunition for the main event and side matches.  Frangible ammunition is recommended, but not required.

  • Body Armor must be worn during any life fire participation.

  • Participants are limited to 5 Magazines total for the main event and loaded with a maximum of 15 rounds each with a total of 50 Rounds loaded.  Extra ammunition or improperly loaded magazines in the Main event or side match will result in disqualification.

  • Participants may determine on their own how to best load their 5 Magazines and will not be penalized for dropping live rounds.  Only if the competitor runs out of ammo or does not complete the course in its entirety.

  • All participants must have a safe, operational, OWB Holster, retention, kydex style Holsters that will keep the handgun secured when needed.  No IWB, Appendix, Pocket, Cross Draw, or Shoulder Holsters will be allowed!  

  • Full Duty Rigs are not Required.

  • Monitor the weather and dress accordingly.  Attire must be professional and appropriate.

  • Participants must wear footwear with solid traction.  Flip Flops, open toe shoes, sandals and pump style heels will not be allowed due to safety reasons. Sorry about the pumps Lausch..


MAIN EVENT SELECTION PROCESS

  • THE MAIN EVENT COURSE OF FIRE IS STRICTLY LIMITED TO 55 COMPETITORS AT THIS TIME.

  • ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE WELCOME.

  • FOR THIS YEAR ONLY, COMPETITORS WILL BE SELECTED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS UNTIL THE LIMIT IS REACHED REGARDLESS OF THE COMPETITOR’S PREVIOUS YEAR’S RANKINGS.

  • MAIN EVENT SELECTION IS NOT REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE OTHER ON-GOING ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
